Static IP
The static IP refers to an IP address that is assigned to a device and remains constant, as opposed to a dynamic IP address.
Dynamic IP
The dynamic IP refers to an IP address that changes each time the device connects to the internet.
For Freedom Internet, we do not allocate static IP addresses to residential customers. We only support static IPv4 on commercial services. Prices may vary.
CGNAT
CGNAT (Carrier-Grade NAT) is a variant of NAT that is used by internet service providers (ISPs) to provide internet access to their customers. CGNAT works by allowing multiple customers to share a single, public IP address.
Freedom Internet uses CGNAT for all residential plans.
Port Forwarding
Port forwarding is a network configuration technique that enables external devices to access services on a private network, which otherwise wouldn't be directly accessible from the outside. With port forwarding, you can connect from a local computer to another server, in other words – forward data.
